Kia Ora and Namaste!
On behalf of the Nepal New Zealand Friendship Society of Canterbury (NNZFSC) and Executive committee, I would like to extend a warm welcome. NNZFSC, a non-profit organization established in 2002, we endeavour to promote understanding and appreciation for Nepalese cultures and traditions in New Zealand, while fostering a strong and supportive community for Nepalese living in Canterbury.
Our Core Objectives
Since our founding, the NNZFSC has been a vibrant hub for cultural exchange and community engagement.
NNZFSC is guided by several key objectives:
- Mutual Support: We promote mutual support in areas of common interest of our members.
- Community Harmony through Sports and Events: We promote interaction, cooperation, and a spirit of unity amongst our members through Cultural and Sporting Events.
- Social and Cultural Legacy: We are dedicated to preserving and promoting Nepali social and cultural heritage in New Zealand.
- Bridging Cultures: We actively promote interaction with other ethnic communities in Canterbury for intercultural understanding and collaboration.
- Immigrant Support: We recognize the challenges faced by newcomers, and we offer counselling and support services as required to help them make a smooth transition in Canterbury.
We achieve our objectives through a variety of initiatives:
- Cultural Celebrations: We organize exciting cultural festivals, events and interaction programs throughout the year that showcase our culture. This also provides a platform for our members to connect with each other and share experience. I encourage you to visit our events calendar and follow us on our social media for more details.
- Regular Sporting Activities and Nepali Language Class: We run various regular sporting activities such as Football (through Nepal United FC), Badminton, Swimming, Zumba, Cricket, etc.) and Nepali language & Cultural classes for kids.
- Sharing our voice & experience through Radio and Namaste Magazine: We proudly support our weekly community radio show "Namaste Nepal," and our yearly magazine “Namaste”, valuable resources for Nepalese community living in New Zealand.
